so okay i just need to make a post about this new anime i started watching, Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru

it’s a magical girl anime, and one of the main characters is disabled

image

Togo was in an accident when she was little and hasn’t been able to move or feel her legs since.  of course, i fucking lost my shit at a main character in an anime this season being disabled, but i was kind of curious and apprehensive about how they were going to handle her disability when she transforms.

see those ribbons?  togo isn’t magically healed when she transformed, making her disability just something to make her unique when she’s a human.  no, those ribbons are how she moves.  her legs still don’t work, but the ribbons on her costume get her around and maneuver her so she can fight just as good as the other girls.

I AM SO.  FUCKING.  HAPPY.

DISABLED REPRESENTATION MATTERS.

Hey guys! It’s finally October 4th, my 18th birthday! (Oh god, I’m an adult now!) Wow, I’ve been planning this for a really long time, so I’m super excited to finally be unveiling what I’m doing. It’s actually a little different than what I was originally planning. Anyway, here it is:

A figurine giveaway!

Any figurine of your choice! (Up to $150 USD)

Naturally, there’s going to have to be a few restrictions on this, like anything in life. So here are the rules:

  • Be 18 or older or have parental permission to share an address I can ship to.
  • Reblogs count as an entry. Likes do not.
  • Be following me. New followers are totally welcome if you see this post and decide you like my blog! But don’t follow just for this giveaway, and definitely don’t just follow if you’re going to unfollow if you don’t win. That’d be incredibly rude, don’t you think? This is a way for me to share my birthday excitement with my followers. So if you have no interest in cute anime girls and cacti, maybe this isn’t for you.
  • You must ask for a figurine if you win. I realize how easy it is to say, “but Cactus, can’t we ask for anything under $150?” No! I want to give someone a figurine! That’s the whole point here. (I was originally just going to give away a figurine of Ryuko Matoi, but I figured this would be more encompassing to all of my followers.)
  • Pick a reputable source to buy the figurine from. I would prefer you choose Amazon.com. I have Amazon Prime, so keep that in mind. You will make my life a lot easier if you pick an easy site to order from.
  • It’s your job to calculate shipping. Shipping is counted into the $150 total!
  • I’ll ship internationally as long as it fits into the budget.
  • The winner will be chosen using a random number generator.
  • I will NOT buy bootleg figurines!
  • I probably won’t buy more than one figurine. Even if the total stays under $150. I will buy ONE. So you should probably look for something you want that isn’t $20 or something. This is to save me from more headache than necessary. However, if you find all of what you want on Amazon.com, that may be acceptable.
  • If a figure you want hasn’t come out yet, I’m totally willing to wait until it does, for a reasonable amount of time, anyway.
  • Winner must contact me within 48 hours or I reroll.

Yeah, so I think that covers it! Of course, I have every right to change these rules and deny people for whatever reason I’d like; it’s my birthday giveaway, after all! Good luck!
